Fortnite chapter 2 season 2 is all about being a super, secret spy. As such, there are some doors and chests that require ID scanning to open. These areas usually have great loot — if you can get past the sensor.
Here are the two ways to open ID locked chests and doors in Fortnite season 2.
USING A DISGUISE
As you explore around the map, you’ll find telephone booths (seen in the image at the top of this post). If you walk up to one of these booths and interact, it will disguise you as a henchman. As a henchman, you have a few unique privileges. You can walk by turrets and cameras without detection, and fellow henchmen won’t notice you.
While disguised, you can also open special ID doors and chests. Simply walk up and hit the use button to scan your character.
If you’re disguised, be careful before entering combat. If you get hit, you’ll lose the disguise and need to go back to the phone booth.
USING A HENCHMAN
The less suave, but certainly viable, way to open an ID locked door or chest is to knock out a guard and carry them to the scanner. Walk around the area and try to find a henchman — you can listen in for their grumbles. When you find one, shoot them enough to get them crawling on the ground.
Pick up the guard and carry them to the ID lock you need to open. The prompt will change to ask if you want to scan the henchman. Hit the use key to scan them, and the lock will pop open.
If you’re on PC, this can be a bit more difficult — depending on your keybindings. Go into your settings and make sure your use key and pick up object key are different. If they’re the same, you won’t be able to scan the henchman.
Regardless of which method you choose, opening ID locked doors is a great way to get some killer loot, and it’s usually worth the time it takes.
